Stage four redevelopment

The stage four redevelopment is a game changer for our club and members, increasing the capacity of Simonds Stadium to 36,000. The total project budget is $90m and is being delivered in partnership with the State Government, the AFL and the City of Greater Geelong.

The exciting project will see the replacement of the existing Brownlow and Jennings Stands, to allow for the development of a contemporary stand. It will include an abundance of new facilities including a large 600 seat function room, media and broadcasting areas, football department facilities and a social club for patrons to enjoy on match days at Simonds Stadium. It will also include the ‘Sunrise Centre’, a facility which will be aimed at getting people with a disability back to work.

The redevelopment will bring significant economic and social benefit to our region. During the peak of construction, 95 extra jobs are expected to be accommodated within the stadium. The project commenced in late 2015 and the project remains on-track for completion in 2017.

Once the stage four redevelopment is complete, the economic impact of each game at Simonds Stadium will be $4 million plus, of which more than half will be spent outside the stadium.
